An Illustrious History

White Gables II is located along Ivy Road among historic homes that Hollis Rinehart, Sr., built for himself and his sons between 1921 and 1924. These dwellings, which eventually became known as “Rinehart Row,” are renowned for their architecture and White Gables, Kenridge and Boxwood have all been recognized for their historic importance. Birdwood, on the opposite side of Ivy Road, was originally built in 1819 and was home to the Rinehart family while the other homes were being constructed. Other accomplishments of Hollis Rinehart include helping to found Farmington Country Club, building the Paramount Theatre (1931) on the Downtown Mall, founding the Charlottesville National Bank and Trust Company (1914) and serving on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and the University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors.

White Gables II has been designed to coexist in harmony with these landmark homes and to add premiere residences close to UVA and the center of Charlottesville.
